West Ham United suffer another injury blow after Mohammed Kudus news emerges

West Ham star Mohammed Kudus will join the Ghana squad later than expected ahead of the African Cup of Nations after suffering a minor hamstring injury, according to Claret & Hugh.

The West Ham news source reported that it would be seven to ten days before Kudus leaves London to join up with the squad, with the injury only minor and not expected to prevent him from playing at AFCON.

Ghana boss Chris Hughton revealed Kudus would join the squad in the next few days as they will need to deal with the injury before he joins their training camp.

The blows keep on coming

On top of the news that Lucas Paqueta will miss the clash with Brighton due to a knee injury sustained in the warm-up before West Ham beat Arsenal, and the concern around both Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd, a blow to Kudus is more bad news at the London Stadium.

While he was set to depart for AFCON regardless of the injury news, meaning the Hammers would have been without his services for around a month anyway, the news of a hamstring injury will add new concerns to the Hammers’ minds.

If not dealt with properly, there is a chance the star could aggravate the injury while away on international duty where the demands will be high and he will want to feature as often as possible to help his country progress.

Should Kudus not recover properly, or even opt to play through the minor injury, such is the importance of AFCON to Ghana, he will carry the risk of making things worse and potentially being ruled out for a longer timeframe.

That, of course, is all speculation. The likelihood is that he will recover in London and only if fully fit he will join Hughton and his squad, but the concerns will linger in East London.
