West Ham United still want Arnaut Danjuma despite injury problems

West Ham United are still on the trail of Villareal winger Arnaut Danjuma but face Premier League competition, according to Fichajes.net.

The Irons were keen on signing the 25-year-old in the summer as they searched for attacking reinforcements but any impending move fell through and he remained in La Liga.

Since then, however, the Dutch international has suffered a series of injuries which has heavily prevented his 2022-23 season and the games he has been able to play.

West Ham

Along with West Ham, Liverpool also remain interested while Todd Boehly is keen to enter Chelsea into the race as he continues to throw cash here, there and everywhere.

Despite his infrequent appearances this season, Danjuma has still managed to score three goals in seven matches in all competitions and would likely bring in a record transfer fee for Villareal.

Too much

Signing Danjuma would likely cost £30million or more if the Spanish side gets their way in negotiations and with Chelsea probably having that cash already on the table by the time the January transfer window rolls around, it might be worth leaving this pursuit.

West Ham

Michail Antonio can start to move out to the wing now that Gianluca Scamacca is asserting himself as the main striker and Jarrod Bowen is nye on immovable on the opposite side.

The Dutchman would still be an improvement but having spent such a huge amount of money in the summer of ix a number of issues with the squad, West Ham just don’t have the pulling power to get the deal done, realistically.

If Chelsea and Liverpool decide to look elsewhere then they might have a chance as Villareal could lower their asking price to ensure a sale happens but it would still be a big overlay.
