West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen sends message to Morgan Rogers after what happened on Thursday

West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen has sent a message of congratulations to Morgan Rogers after the Aston Villa ace made his England debut.

The 22-year-old entered the field as a second-half substitute in the Three Lions’ 3-0 win over Greece on Thursday 14 November, joining the play at the same time as the Hammers winger.

While neither player registered a goal contribution, Lee Carsley’s changes helped England to build on Ollie Watkins’ earlier opener with an own goal from Odisseas Vlachodomis and a Curtis Jones strike.

Reacting to Rogers’ Instagram post [14 November], Bowen wrote: “Deserved bro,” with a loving eyes emoji, while Manchester City defender Kyle Walker said: “Congrats mate”.

The forward-thinking duo have had rather different campaigns so far, with Bowen attempting to help the Hammers away from the relegation zone while Rogers is starring in the Champions League.

The latter certainly has a long way to go if he is to live up to Bowen’s performances in the Premier League, with the Hammers man boasting 64 goals and 41 assists since arriving from Hull City.

Also helping the Irons to the Europa Conference League title, the 27-year-old should be a good example of what Rogers is capable of achieving, and likely more if Unai Emery remains in charge at Villa Park.

Meanwhile, at the London Stadium, Julen Lopetegui is on the brink of being sacked after a torrid start to the season and will need his winger to massively improve over the next few matches.

The manager will be hoping that, having finally gained some valuable minutes on international duty, Bowen can bring some of that confidence back to the London Stadium and lead the team forward.

In other West Ham news, Julen Lopetegui’s gut instincts have been proven right after what one star did last night.
