West Ham United staff cancel inappropriate schedule after ‘grim’ developments

West Ham United remain in the Premier League relegation zone heading into Christmas.

West Ham drew 1-1 at Brighton on Sunday, although the positive result at the AMEX still left them sitting 17th, behind Nottingham Forest and Leeds.

It comes after another battling draw away at Manchester United, with the squad clearly showing grit and fight under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Despite that, there won’t be much Christmas cheer at Rush Green.

West Ham cancel Christmas parties

West Ham staff have now decided against holding a Christmas get-together.

Mike Keegan has reported for the Daily Mail on Monday that staff believe it would be inappropriate to go ahead with a celebration after a “grim” year at the London Stadium.

Jarrod Bowen was superb against Brighton on Sunday, and the captain is doing all he can to turn this around, with Christmas the perfect time to do that.

West Ham were minutes away from all three points at the AMEX, and would have grabbed them if not for incompetent officiating.

These performances and a lack of distraction at this party could be the difference in the end.

Who do West Ham play over Christmas?

West Ham are still in a very tricky run of Premier League fixtures.

Aston Villa are next at the London Stadium, followed by a trip to Manchester City just before Christmas.

Then it starts to get a little easier, with Fulham and Brighton, both at home, coming up before New Year’s and a better January schedule.

Wolves and Nottingham Forest then follow that, and things could look very different for Nuno and the Irons in one month. You just have to keep the faith.

Nuno has certainly started to tighten up the defence of his squad, which is a trend of his management and can hopefully lead to survival.

With Crysencio Summerville and Lucas Paqueta also returning against Brighton, the squad is looking much healthier and ready for the battle ahead.

Let’s not panic yet.
