West Ham United: St Pat’s boss details Joseph Anang threat that ended loan spell
West Ham United goalkeeper Joseph Anang has made the move to League One side Derby County on loan after his time at St Pat’s came to an end.
The 22-year-old had spent the first half o the Republic of Ireland season on loan with the Saints where he had made 30 appearances in all competitions as the club’s first-choice shot-stopper.
But his time in Ireland came to an abrupt end as he kicked up a fuss to earn a move to Pride Park ahead of the 2022-23 English Football League season.

“Joe has been absolutely brilliant all season, and what a great kid he is,” St Pat’s manager Tim Clancy said, as quoted by the Irish Independent. “He’s got a big future ahead of him but we’re really disappointed in the way the end of Joe’s loan came about.
“There was a recall in June which wasn’t used and subsequently we let Josh Keeley go to Tottenham. Joe sort of pushed us into a corner where we had to let him go. He wouldn’t travel to Bulgaria unless we agreed to let him go.
“I think he’s just been badly advised… it’s a massive move for him and we wish him all the best.”
Worrying
It will be of great concern to many at Rush Green to hear of the drama that unfolded on the other side of the Irish Sea that has seen Anang leave St Pat’s short at a crucial time in their campaign.

He may have wanted that move to Derby in League One but there would have been countless better ways to handle such a discussion than making such a scene of it all.
David Moyes will be having no thoughts of recalling the Englishman anytime soon for a first-team call-up with that kind of attitude and you have to hope that he, or someone else in a significant role at the club, has mentioned that to him.
Certainly, senior regulars Lukasz Fabianski and Alphonse Areola will be having no nightmares about the up-and-coming talent at West Ham as they relax safe in the knowledge that the next best thing is a long way away from being ready right now.
