West Ham United: Sky pundit in awe of 'magic' Gianluca Scamacca
West Ham United dragged themselves out of the relegation zone on Saturday as they dominated Wolves to win 2-0 at the London Stadium.
Gianluca Scamacca scored his first goal at the home of the Irons to give them the lead after half an hour before Jarrod Bowen doubled the advantage with a fine left-footed strike.
But it was the Italian’s sumptuous volley from the edge of the area that really caught the eye of Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp who waxed lyrical about the 23-year-old.
“I looked at the game and thought ‘where is that goal coming from?’ and it had to be a piece of magic,” Redknapp said. “He hadn’t started the game that well but this is a thing of beauty.
“You can see the way he strikes it and the way it pops up for him is beautiful. All you have to do is hit it with a clean strike.
“He gets that little bit of fortune the way it comes back to him but when it does he relaxes, sets himself and bang, such a great finish.”

That was much more like the performance everybody has been expecting of West Ham this season and it is certainly something they can build on in the run-up to the World Cup break.
There were other chances that could have been buried and made the scoreline even more one-sided than it was but the only thing that matters is the three points and that is what David Moyes got.
Admittedly, Wolves are one of the weakest sides in the division right now with a makeshift centre-half in their side but you can only beat what is put in front of you and they did exactly that.
Defeat was simply not an option on Saturday given the dreadful starts to the season both sides have faced and the Hammers could have out Bruno Lage out of a job.
That could have easily been Moyes had the result been reversed but he motivated his men enough to win and now is the time to ramp up the consistency.
