West Ham United should not fall for Nayef Aguerd potential contract demands after deal stalls
West Ham must make sure they don’t overpay for Nayef Aguerd in order to get a deal done for the Rennes defender with Newcastle potentially eyeing a move for the Moroccan.
Aguerd’s £30 million move from Rennes to West Ham has seen last-minute issues with Newcastle reportedly looking to “hijack” the Hammers deal for the 26-year-old.
As revealed by the Daily Star on Wednesday 15 June, late interest from the Magpies has thrown the deal into doubt.

However, club website Claret & Hugh mooted on Thursday 16 June that Aguerd and his agent could be using the Magpies’ interest as leverage to secure a better deal at the London Stadium.
If that is the case then the Irons must walk away from any deal for the defender.
Aguerd is 26 and has the chance to play for one of the Premier Leagues’ most historic clubs in London.
If that isn’t enough to entice the Moroccan to the London Stadium then David Moyes should walk away from any deal.
The West Ham boss needs players that want to play for the Hammers and will align with the philosophy that he has implemented at the club.
Aguerd is coming from a significantly worse league and quite frankly should be grateful for the chance to play for the Hammers.

The potential Newcastle interest will clearly entice the defender with the financial package that the Magpies could offer.
It’s a sad indictment of modern football that a player who hasn’t even performed at Premier League level could be holding the Hammers to ransom.
Moyes doesn’t have an endless stream of money to use this summer and must look for value.
It will be hard to walk away from a move, but if the 26-year-old continues to stall then he must look elsewhere.
In other West Ham news, the club have “nothing to add” when asked about the proposed Birmingham City takeover that may involve David Sullivan.
