West Ham United scout Blackburn Rovers sensation Adam Wharton
West Ham United have sent scouts to watch Blackburn Rovers’ sensation Adam Wharton in recent weeks, according to the Daily Mail.
The Mail claim (8 May) Newcastle, Tottenham, Arsenal, Leicester and the Hammers have all been in attendance at Ewood Park in recent weeks.
Wharton has been described as the “taller Jack Wilshere” and the 18-year-old has “caught the eye” in his 19 Championship appearances to date. Blackburn are eager to keep the midfielder until he reaches at least 100 outings.

Exciting
The midfielder is a classy operator and got on the scoresheet during Rovers’ final day clash with an excellent finish from outside the box. We’ve seen how effective recruitment from the second tier can be and it could be a market for David Moyes to shop in once again.
Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma have both shown how to step up from the Championship and Moyes also pursued Keane Lewis-Potter before the Hull City man completed his move to Brentford. With West Ham’s league status now more secure, the board can now cast an eye forward to the summer.

West Ham were active during the 2022 summer window and we could face another hectic window after the disappointment of the 2022/23 season. A top-ten finish has to be the goal next year. Another relegation battle cannot be on the agenda, particularly after the backing Moyes received.
This could well be one to watch heading into the summer months. There’s room for a younger player who could be developed in Moyes’ squad.
