West Ham United: Saturday AM David Moyes update emerges amid Celtic interest after talks with club owners – Dharmesh Sheth

West Ham United manager David Moyes is expected to remain in charge at the London Stadium following talks with the club owners, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

Moyes became only the third manager in the club’s history to lift a trophy thanks to a 2-1 win over Fiorentina to win the Europa Conference League final, with owner Sullivan confirming in the aftermath that his position as manager was safe should he wish to stay.

Sky Sports revealed on 8 June that the two would meet on Friday to discuss his future, having been linked with the vacant Celtic manager’s job in recent days.

However, in a new update shared on Twitter by Sheth [10 June], those talks have proven to be rather successful with Moyes also now expected to lead the recruitment charge this summer.

He tweeted: “David Moyes expected to continue as West Ham United manager next season following talks with club’s owners. Discussions also took in summer transfer plans.

“Moyes has a year left on his contract.”

European sway

It certainly seems as if Wednesday’s memorable win in Prague has swayed the decision of the West Ham United board, after Moyes’ position looked absolutely in jeopardy well before the Euro final.

However, with the Scottish manager now expected to remain in charge, he certainly holds a huge job on his hands to ensure that last season’s disastrous Premier League campaign doesn’t happen again, and the summer activities will play a huge part in that.

West Ham

West Ham United are resigned to losing a significant number of their key stars this summer, not least club captain Declan Rice who is attracting plenty of interest from Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Manchester United as he goes in search of Champions League football next season.

According to The Telegraph [8 June], the Gunners have moved a step closer to completing a £92m deal for the England star, which means West Ham United face a tough task this summer trying to fill the gaping hole Rice is about to leave.

Also, Michail Antonio is also set to depart too and the Jamaican international will also leave a gaping hole to fill given his huge presence and influence in the dressing room.

The Hammers fans will be expecting the club to be reaching the heights of the 2021/22 campaign again and even further, and for that to happen, this summer’s transfer activity will arguably be the club’s most pivotal yet. No pressure Moyes.
