West Ham respond to fresh reports of Chelsea’s interest in Declan Rice
With no clear date on when the transfer window will open this summer, West Ham United are concentrating on their Premier League survival bid.
The Hammers are struggling at the wrong end of the top-flight, and that has seen some top-six clubs become aware of some players potentially becoming available.
It has been reported on Sunday that Chelsea are set to reignite their interest in Declan Rice this summer, with Frank Lampard prepared to pay £45million.
Claret and Hugh have reported the Hammers’ response to that reported interest from the Blues, and it’s great news for fans in East London.
The reliable club source has revealed that Chelsea have made no contact whatsoever with West Ham over a potential move.
It has been taken even further too, with the online source sharing that the suggested £45million fee is “pathetic” and it would take much more than that to tempt West Ham’s hand.
West Ham are certainly underperforming for the amount of money they have spent in recent years, breaking their transfer record three times in the past two years.
Sebastien Haller, Felipe Anderson and Issa Diop were marquee signings, and Rice has been performing above those three ever since they arrived.
Mark Noble is coming to the end of his career, and David Moyes will have envisaged a future with both Rice and Tomas Soucek in the heart of midfield.
Having said that, if the Irons are relegated, they can definitely wave goodbye to Rice and it may be for cheaper than the suggested pathetic figure of £45million.
