West Ham ready to change mind on five-substitutions vote – report

West Ham United are ready to change their mind on the five-substitution rule in the Premier League this season.

Many clubs including Liverpool and Manchester City have been campaigning for it to return this season after a number of injuries.

As it stands, Premier League clubs are only allowed to use three substitutions, but that could change in the coming months.

Claret and Hugh have reported that the Irons are ready to change their vote.

West Ham initially voted against the ruling, with David Moyes claiming that he recommended the club to stick with three-substitutions.

The Scotsman’s latest comments appear to go against that, though.

“So, while I still think it benefits bigger squads and clubs with bigger budgets, I would consider the change back,” he said.

Moyes doesn’t appear to be a massive fan of this proposed change, and once football returns to some normality, he would likely want this ruling to revert back.

With the Champions League and Europa League games happening weekly, that could be a major reason behind the struggle of top-six clubs.

Once some normality returns to the Premier League, so should three substitutions – something Moyes appears to agree with.

West Ham have not had too many issues since the likes of Moyes and Issa Diop tested positive for COVID-19, and this change could ensure that continues.
