‘Championship at best’, ‘Embarrassment’- Many West Ham fans destroy ‘liability’ v Burnley

West Ham United went into their clash with Burnley on Wednesday looking to make it three unbeaten in the Premier League.

With Watford winning on Tuesday, it was vital to the Irons’ survival hopes to get something at the London Stadium.

Andriy Yarmolenko was drafted into the starting XI by David Moyes, with Pablo Fornals missing from the 2-2 draw v Newcastle.

It wasn’t a great spectacle at the London Stadium, with the Hammers less than inspiring after two promising performances.

Burnley took the lead in the first half when Jay Rodriguez rose highest to head home the opener after poor defending from both full-backs.

Aaron Cresswell was slaughtered for his performance against Newcastle last time out but was given another chance leaving Arthur Masuaku out in the cold once again.

It was Ryan Fredericks who took the blame from Hammers fans for this conceded strike, not getting close enough to Charlie Taylor who had all the time in the world to pick out Rodriguez.

The 27-year-old has been solid at times this season, making three tackles-per-game according to WhoScored, but his reading of the game has left him lacking.

If West Ham fans had their way, both Fredericks and Cresswell would be playing in the Championship – more results like this and it could be with the Irons next season.

Many Hammers fans reacted to Fredericks display, destroying the former Fulham man for his performance in the 1-0 defeat.
