West Ham United: Ray Parlour shares David Moyes sack verdict live on talkSPORT
Ray Parlour has offered his verdict on David Moyes’ position at West Ham United, suggesting the Scotsman has done enough having led the Irons to the knockout stages of the Europa League.
David Moyes’ side were nowhere near their best in their 1-0 win on Thursday (30 November) however, another late winner from Tomas Soucek confirmed the Hammers’ place in the Europa League knockout stages, only days after he did the same against Burnley.
While it was another poor performance from the Irons, Parlour has insisted that the result was the most important thing for West Ham but thinks some supporters will still be calling for Moyes’ sacking and a change of manager.

Speaking on talkSPORT (1 December, 6:10) he said: “It is all about getting through, this is the situation where you do your job, you get the six points and you move on to the next round.
“But they didn’t play great against Burnley, did they? They managed to get two late goals in the league last week, so they’re not playing great. But they’re still getting points, they’re picking points so that’s all you can ask.
“I’m sure there are a few West Ham fans out there saying we need a change because of the way they play, it’s been a very successful time over the last few years, obviously being in Europe and winning the European Conference League last year was a real boost for the club.
“You can argue what is the West Ham way, play a bit more football.”
Change required?
There will always be those who argue that West Ham should be playing more attacking and expansive football than they have done under the management of Moyes, but as Parlour suggested, the Scotsman’s sides keep finding a way to win.
The performance against TSC was by no means great as the Hammers only had three shots on target against the weakest side in their Europa League group, but the Irons still claimed all three points and booked their place in the knockout rounds.

Considering Moyes was unable to field several key players such as Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio and Mohammed Kudus because of injury, it is impressive that West Ham still managed to return from Serbia with all three points.
The West Ham way may have previously involved a more expansive style of play, but considering Moyes’ success over the last few years and the excellent start to the Premier League and Europa League campaign, he has done more than enough to secure his place in the Hammers’ dugout for the future.
