West Ham United: Ray Parlour shares David Moyes exit verdict live on talkSPORT, ‘I’ve heard…’
Ray Parlour believes David Moyes has done a “fantastic” job during his time at West Ham as the speculation continues around his future.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (22 December), the pundit said he believes the Hammers fans are split 50-50 as to whether they want to see Scotsman leave the club.
But he thinks the 60-year-old is “trying to do the best he can” as the Irons are about where they should be in the Premier League this season, with the East Londoners sitting ninth in the table.

“There’s reports that David Moyes will not be offered a new deal when his contract expires at the end of the season,” said host Natalie Sawyer.
“I think it’s 50-50 with the West Ham fans,” replied Parlour. “I live in a West Ham area, where I speak to quite a few of them and they said ‘we want to play a different sort of style of football’, a little bit like probably Spurs have done now. They changed totally from under Conte and Mourinho, it’s a lot more attacking.
“I’ve heard Spurs supporters say ‘look, we’re really enjoying it, sometimes results are going to go against us, but we’re enjoying what we’re seeing’. I think West Ham may be in the same sort of group.
“But I think David Moyes has done a fantastic job, I really do. To win that European trophy was so important for the club. You ask any West Ham fan who travelled all around Europe to watch them win that, they certainly enjoyed it. Again, I look at a club, it’s probably about where they should be at the moment in mid-table. They’re not too far away, they’re above Chelsea at the moment, who spent all that money.
“Obviously Declan Rice, they lost their best player. The other lads have fitted in quite well, Alvarez has come in, Paqueta’s obviously stepped up a bit, Kudus on the right-hand side looks exciting, Bowen is playing really well, back in the England squad, which he deserves. They have got good players there and David Moyes is trying to do the best he can.”
Fresh ideas
The overall feeling from the West Ham fans at the moment in time seems to be that the majority want to see something different and fresh ideas from a new manager.
There is no doubt that Moyes has done an excellent job during his two spells at the club, but the supporters want to be excited and believe there are players in the squad to deliver a better brand of football.
The crushing 5-1 defeat against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Wednesday (20 December) could potentially be damaging to his hopes of staying on at the London Stadium beyond this season.

The Scotsman deserves to go out with honour after qualiying for Europe three seaons in a row and delivering the Europa Conference League victory during the last campaign.
But it does feel like his time in East London will come to an end next summer as we look to continue progressing and competiting higher up in the Premier League table.
