West Ham United put ‘finishing touches’ on Nayef Aguerd deal
West Ham United are getting ever closer to securing the transfer of Stade Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd, according to 90min.
The 26-year-old appears set to become David Moyes’ first summer signing of the 2022 window as the Scot looks to add much-needed depth to his defensive department.
The Hammers could end up paying more than £30million for the Moroccan international who was almost ever-present for Rennes in Ligue 1 during the 2021-22 campaign as they finished a very impressive fourth, qualifying for the Europa League as a result.

90min claim that the Irons are just “putting the finishing touches,” on a deal for Aguerd and that it is highly unlikely to be the only incoming transfer at the London Stadium this summer.
Morocco manager Vahid Halilhodzic admitted on Monday 13 June that the defender had been released from international duty to complete his move to West Ham [West Ham Views on Twitter].
Just the start
Moyes knows that this is the biggest summer we’ve had since he returned to the dugout and it looks like he is in no mood to waste time when it comes to his primary targets.
He knew that he needed a defender after injuries to Kurt Zouma, Issa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna had left him woefully short at the back last season and he went ahead and dealt with the issue instantly.

Now he needs to address the other major problem areas in the squad and make this group of players the best he has ever assembled at the London Stadium.
The next port of call should be a striker who can not only provide backup for Michail Antonio but also challenge him for a starting spot to really give him the kick up the backside he needs to realise his potential.
He then needs to add depth to the midfield with Mark Noble and Alex Kral no longer in the squad leaving just Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.
That duo is still very good but they can’t play every single game so he has to find another central midfielder from somewhere and then potentially a winger to fly opposite the fantastic Jarrod Bowen.
In other West Ham news, the Irons have enquired about a German centre-half who could be available for just £4.2million.
