West Ham United pocket financial windfall amid £160m FIFA development
West Ham United have received a financial windfall as they were paid $960,900 (£735,000) by FIFA for sending players to the 2022 World Cup.
A document released by the governing body noted that 440 clubs were paid $209million (£160million) for their role in the tournament in Qatar.
And the Hammers were among the English representatives to receive money, with the Football Association (FA) paid $37.7million (£28.8million) for sending players to the 2022 event.

As noted by FIFA, teams from the FA represented a total of 23.73% of UEFA clubs in terms of money received for the tournament in Qatar.
And the Hammers were given £735,000 thanks to their five representatives in Qatar; Declan Rice, Lucas Paqueta, Alphonse Areola, Thilo Kehrer and Nayef Aguerd.

Fantastic boost
Finances shouldn’t really be that tight at West Ham this summer amid the impending exit of captain fantastic Rice, who is closing in on a £105million transfer to Arsenal.
But the East London club certainly won’t be saying no to this fantastic financial windfall, which fell just short of $1million.
Such money may seem insignificant in the modern-day game, but it will definitely help the Hammers keep the books healthy.
And they have their international stars to thank, with the club missing out on even more money given the fact that the likes of the Czech Republic and Algeria failed to qualify for the tournament.
Czech duo Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal would have definitely represented their nation at Qatar, with the same to be said of Algerian ace Said Benrahma.
But this fee should do for now, with the Hammers confident of receiving more money from FIFA at the 2026 event thanks to their star-studded squad.
In other West Ham news, an update has emerged on the club’s pursuit of one Serie A player amid negotiations.
