West Ham United: Phil McNulty shares new David Moyes sack verdict at London Stadium
Phil McNulty doesn’t believe David Moyes will still be at West Ham beyond this season on the back of their recent form.
Answering questions on the BBC Sport website on Monday (19 February), the journalist said there seems to be a “groundswell of toxicity” towards the Hammers boss after the results and performances have been “dreadful” lately.
Although he concedes that the Scotsman has done a “very good job” at the London Stadium, he added that it feels like the “loveless, joyless relationship” is coming to a close and it’s now just a question over when and how he leaves the club.
“Lots of people from the outside will look at West Ham United and wonder what is going on and why there seems to be a groundswell of toxicity towards Moyes,” said McNulty.
“After all, he did win the Europa Conference League last season but there can be no doubt recent results and performances have been dreadful and it is clear many fans are unhappy.
“Whether you think this is harsh or not, and I happen to think Moyes has done a very good job at West Ham United, this does feel like a rather loveless, joyless relationship coming towards a close.
“I don’t see Moyes being West Ham manager next season. I just think it is a question of when and how he goes – but he should be remembered with respect as a manager who brought a trophy to the club and put them in the upper reaches of the Premier League.”
David Moyes situation unhealthy for everyone at West Ham
The situation regarding Moyes and his future is extremely unhealthy for everyone involved with West Ham and something is going to have to give before too long.
The uncertainty around his position is clearly having an impact on matters on the pitch at the moment and it does feel like it’s only going to end one way.
The vast majority of Hammers fans are thankful for the incredible job he’s done over the past few years, but that doesn’t mean he should be exempt from criticism when the performances have been so poor.

It’s hard to see the Scotsman still being our manager next season due to the amount of supporters that do want to see him leave and the pressure that’s currently putting on the board.
He should leave with his dignity intact after everything that he’s achieved, but the situation is turning more toxic by the day and that isn’t good for anyone.
