West Ham United ‘open to offers’ for defender Craig Dawson as Wolves eye move – Dharmesh Sheth

West Ham are open to accepting offers for defender Craig Dawson, as reported by Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist wrote on Twitter (10 January) that Wolverhampton Wanderers have come back again to sign him in January after missing out on him in the summer.

The Hammers ideally want a replacement if Dawson leaves. The 32-year-old has only six months left on his current contract at the club.

“West Ham United open to offers for Craig Dawson – but ideally would want a replacement. Wolves back in for Dawson after coming close to signing him in the summer. Dawson into the final six months of his contract,” wrote Sheth on Twitter.

Replacement

Dawson has been a great player for the club, and it will be really sad to see him go in January.

Last season, when Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna got injured, it was Dawson who played a massive role for the club. He was very consistent with his performance throughout.

The 32-year-old central defender has made eight starts in the Premier League this season, and ideally, David Moyes would want to keep him.

West Ham

Dawson, however, wants to stay close to his family and the Hammers should respect his wish.

The Hammers should have enough options to cope if Dawson leaves in January. Nayef Aguerd is fit again, while Kurt Zouma should return at some point.

Ogbonna is still around while Thilo Kehrer remains another option at the back.

With his contract expiring, it is also the best chance for West Ham to get some money from Dawson’s deal which can be used to sign a replacement.
