West Ham United next manager hunt takes unexpected twist with breaking Sky Sports update

West Ham are trying to find a solution to their managerial situation following the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Graham Potter’s job at West Ham is still in the balance after a poor run of eight home games without a win.

Equally, West Ham owner David Sullivan has been asked to step down after a strongly worded letter of no confidence from the fan advisory board.

With the Hammers in a mess, there is still plenty of uncertainty over who will be at the helm for their next two games against Everton and Arsenal.

Nuno Espirito Santo and two mystery candidates targeted by West Ham

Nuno Espirito Santo has been heavily linked with West Ham after he was sacked by Nottingham Forest last month.

The Portuguese manager looked to be joined by Slaven Bilic in the list of targets for West Ham, but that no longer appears to be the case.

According to Sky Sports News, Nuno is joined by two mystery candidates on the Hammers’ shortlist.

Speaking on Sky Sports on Monday afternoon, Kaveh Solhekol said: “One of their targets is Nuno Espirito Santo. I think it would be quite an ambitious move by West Ham to get him in.

Managers linked with West Ham:

“Would he want to go to West Ham with the situation they are in? Would he be better off waiting for other options?

“The other two names, the people are telling me, are mystery names – ‘you are going to have to go away and find out who they are’.

“They are not names that have already been mentioned in the media. I’ve been told it’s not names who have been mentioned so far – it’s Nuno plus two others.”

This can be considered a major twist given many were expecting one of the three or four names to have been repeatedly touted for the position to take on the job.

Who could West Ham’s two mystery candidates be?

Hammers fans will be hoping for a big name to arrive at the London Stadium should Potter be sacked.

The likes of O’Neil and Dyche being linked haven’t filled supporters with excitement, but the mystery candidates can.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see that one of the candidates is Lyon manager Paulo Fonseca.

Sullivan has been a long-term admirer of the Brazilian and could return for his signature this season.

He is currently serving an eight-month touchline ban and could relish the opportunity to manage in the Premier League and be back in the dugout.

Michael Carrick could be the other candidate for the job after he was sacked by Middlesbrough in the summer.

The former Irons midfielder didn’t have the best record in the North East, but played an attractive style of football which could bring the spark back to the London Stadium.
