West Ham United: Richard Keys made to look silly over Kalvin Phillips comments live on beIN

Richard Keys made a howler live on air over comments made regarding Kalvin Phillips and his time at West Ham.

The midfielder was sent off in Saturday’s (17 February) 2-0 loss at Nottingham Forest as his terrible loan spell from Manchester City continued.

Phillips has also made mistakes in two of his other three games since arriving, but Keys was clearly confused when reacting to the red card.

Richard Keys reacts to Kalvin Phillips sending off

Speaking on beIN SPORTS [17 February, 5:26pm], Keys said: “That’s just daft. He was also sent off on his debut wasn’t he? That’s twice now.”

Keys went on to repeat that Phillips had been dismissed on his debut, to which co-host Andy Gray replied: “He certainly made an error.”

The veteran broadcaster is presumably mistaking the high-profile error Phillips made early on against Bournemouth as a sending off.

Phillips passed the ball straight to Dominic Solanke three minutes into his Hammers bow in the 1-1 draw with the Cherries.

He was then dispossessed in the build-up to Manchester United’s third goal in their 3-0 win after coming on as a substitute.

Kalvin Phillips’ horror loan spell at West Ham continues

Phillips was then part of the 6-0 mauling at the hands of Arsenal, before this weekend’s latest defeat away at Nottingham Forest.

Whichever way you look at it, it has been a pretty horrible loan spell for Phillips since arriving from Man City last month.

David Moyes has found himself under increasing pressure at West Ham United.

So much so that United have supposedly already lined up an alternative for the summer, rather than signing Phillips permanently.

However, we must get the facts straight: Phillips has ‘only’ been sent off once to date, coming as a result of two yellows against Forest.

The former Leeds United ace will therefore now serve a one-game ban, after which he will hopefully return refreshed and ready to make amends.

In other West Ham news, Neil Moxley has outlined “proof” that should sway whether David Moyes stays or goes at London Stadium.
