Ray Parlour: West Ham United may follow Tottenham lead with David Moyes sack decision
Ray Parlour says West Ham may follow the lead of Tottenham by parting company with David Moyes at the end of the season.
The Irons are ninth in the Premier League, through to the knockout rounds of the Europa League and in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.
However, many remain frustrated by Moyes’ brand of football, believing he is not getting the most out of his numerous attacking talents.

United’s fierce London rivals Tottenham appointed an attack-minded coach in Ange Postecoglou in the summer, much to the delight of their fans.
Speaking on talkSPORT Breakfast [1 December, 09:27], Parlour said: “Performances have not been great, but where do you expect West Ham to be this season – mid-table?
“I think [supporters are] split. Certainly what he’s done, to win a European trophy, the West Ham fans had a great road to the final and there we brilliant scenes at the end of it.
“Some will say they want to see more attacking football. It’s a bit like Tottenham – fans are enjoying watching them play again, so West Ham may be similar.”
Get behind him
West Ham grinded out a 1-0 win at Backa Topola on Thursday (30 November) to make it four wins in a row in all competitions.
On the face of it, everything is going pretty well for the Hammers right now after a blip in October and early November.
However, there are those who will continue to be against Moyes until the Scotsman leaves the club.
Take talkSPORT broadcaster Tom Rennie, who took to Twitter [30 November] to vent his frustration at the manner of United’s latest late victory.
“Another game where it feels like West Ham players are getting visibly more depressed as the game goes on,” Rennie said.
“There has to be more than hope and individual does something brilliant.”
Moyes deserves to stay on until the end of the season, but the club then have a massive decision to make.
The grass is not always greener, and it may well be that an attack-first coach struggles to find a way to grind out wins in the same way as Moyes.
Alternatively, we could see the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen step up another notch and take West Ham to the next level.
Either way, there will be a ‘told you so’ split in the fanbase next season. For now, let’s just get fully behind Moyes for the rest of his current deal.
In other West Ham news, the Irons are reportedly keeping a close eye on a teenage talent who is also wanted by other Premier League clubs.
