West Ham United must sack Julen Lopetegui now after Tottenham defeat

Jason Cundy wants West Ham to sack Julen Lopetegui immediately after the Hammers lost 4-1 to Tottenham in the Premier League.

Spurs hosted their London rivals on 19 October in what turned out to be a one-sided affair despite the visitors taking the lead after Mohammed Kudus found the back of the net.

On talkSPORT [19 October, 18:14], one fan suggested giving Lopetegui a few more games in the dugout of the London Stadium side, but Cundy and Jamie O’Hara were having none of it.

“Four or five games? It’s a big old move that to just give him four or five games rather than just get rid,” O’Hara said.

“Sack him now,” Cundy reacted.

How long will Julen Lopetegui last at West Ham?

West Ham appointed Lopetegui this summer after getting rid of David Moyes, who won the UEFA Europa Conference League in 2023.

However, despite the Scotsman’s success in the Hammers’ dugout, fans were left frustrated with the style of play being defensive.

Therefore, the London Stadium faithful were expecting things to change with the arrival of the former Spanish national team manager.

Unfortunately, things have not worked out for Lopetegui at the club, and the 58-year-old has been unable to replicate what he did during his previous stint in the Premier League with Wolves.

As things stand, the Hammers are in the bottom half of the table and could soon be dragged into a relegation fight if things remain the same.

With only two wins and four losses in eight league games so far, many fans will agree with Cundy’s assessment and want to see a change soon and a potential loss to Manchester United could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
