West Ham United must act fast if they want to land Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca
PSG are set to open talks with West Ham target Gianluca Scamacca and the Irons will have to act fast to stand any chance of landing the 23-year-old Sassuolo striker.
It was revealed by 90min on 22 June that West Ham had made contact with the Serie A side over a potential move for Scamacca.
However, The Guardian’ Fabrizio Romano has reported via his personal Twitter account on 8 July that Ligue 1 giants PSG will soon be in “direct contact” over a £33million transfer for the Italian striker.
Scamacca scored 16 goals in Serie A last season and is contracted to Sassuolo until the summer of 2026
It is fair to say that a move for the striker will ultimately be an ambitious one by the West Ham hierarchy, but surely it’s time the Irons really showed what they’re about in the market.
£33million for a player of Scamacca’s quality and age would be somewhat of a steal for David Moyes and one that he should clearly be pursuing.
The advances of PSG will be hard to match for the Hammers, but the pull of the Premier League cannot be underestimated.

Scamacca would be the ideal long-term replacement for Michail Antonio and would provide perfect competition for the 32-year-old West Ham veteran at present.
If West Ham really had some ambition they would rival that Ligue 1 side for the 23-year-old and really step up their interest in the coming weeks.
Regardless, the London Stadium faithful really need to see some attacking additions in the coming weeks to boost optimism and excitement before the new season.
