West Ham United: Mohammed Kudus recommends signing – ‘One of the best I’ve ever played with’

Mohammed Kudus has hailed Emmanuel Danso as “one of the best I’ve ever played with” – and suggested that West Ham should sign him.

Danso, 23, is a deep-lying central midfielder who plays for Norwegian top-flight outfit Stromgodset and, like Kudus, is from Ghana.

Kudus waxed lyrical about his compatriot’s qualities and stated his confidence that the midfielder would soon become a household name.

When asked who the best player he has ever played with is on Sky Sports, he said: “You don’t know him, but you will know him soon. He’s called Emmanuel Danso.

“I played with him way back from Ghana when I was growing up and he’s one of the best players I’ve ever played with. I’ve played with a lot of players, but he’s the one, he’s like my age.

“He’s a defensive midfielder, a number six, both feet, passing. I’ve always loved him.”

When it was put to him that he should recommend that West Ham sign Danso, he said: “Right, right, [the press officer] is hearing it so let’s get the conversation outside, yeah!”

Should West Ham sign Emmanuel Danso?

Danso has certainly earned a rave review from Kudus, who himself has adapted very well to life in the Premier League since joining from Ajax, notching seven goals and four assists in his debut season so far.

The Stromgodset midfielder’s quality is difficult to gauge at this juncture in his career – he has not yet established himself as a regular starter at the Norwegian top-flight club, making just 20 appearances totalling 745 minutes since joining from Lyon’s B team in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer.

The 23-year-old certainly needs more regular minutes if he is to attract the attention of a Premier League side such as West Ham, but if he boasts as much quality as Kudus insists he does, it will surely shine through eventually.

West Ham will be looking for holding midfielders this summer after Kalvin Phillips’ loan spell ends – should Danso impress between now and the end of the summer transfer window, he may be the just the profile of player the Hammers are looking for.

That said, Kudus’ recommendation alone is unlikely to see a transfer materialise for a player who is not yet starting regularly in Norway – but they may keep an eye on his development.
