West Ham United: Michail Antonio shares where Mohammed Kudus is ‘not bringing much’

West Ham United forward Michail Antonio has revealed that Mohammed Kudus is “not bringing much” in the changing room due to his shy nature.

Kudus joined West Ham from Ajax back in August as part of a £38million deal (Sky Sports News, 28 August).

He has enjoyed a fine debut season in England, scoring 11 goals in all competitions for the Hammers so far while providing four assists.

Kudus recently stole the show, scoring a wonderful solo goal as West Ham thrashed SC Freiburg 5-0 at the London Stadium in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League Round of 16 clash on Thursday (14 March).

Reflecting on the match, Kudus’ teammate Antonio has given a bit more insight into the Ghanian’s character while speaking to The Mirror Football pull-out (page seven, 16 March), stating that while he might not be the liveliest in the dressing room he more than makes up for it on the pitch.

“He’s quiet to be fair. In the changing room, he’s not bringing much but he’s bringing enough on the pitch so he doesn’t need to bring anything to the changing room. I’m (loud) enough myself,” he said.

Mohammed Kudus is doing his talking for West Ham on the pitch

As long as Kudus continues to perform the way he is performing, West Ham’s players, supporters and David Moyes will have zero interest in what the midfielder does off the pitch.

His goal against Freiburg was arguably the greatest goal the London Stadium has ever seen, and Kudus will be keen to build on that display and drive West Ham forward in this season’s Europa League.

The Hammers have been handed a tricky draw as they must take on Bayer Leverkusen in the quarter-finals, who sit top of the Bundesliga unbeaten in all competitions, but with the way Kudus is performing, they will be full of confidence that they can get a result.

Moyes’ side have a fantastic recent European record at home, having won their past 11 European ties at the London Stadium, and they will have the advantage of playing their second leg against Leverkusen in London.

If Kudus can continue to do his talking on the pitch, who knows how far West Ham could go this season.
