West Ham United: Micah Richards teases private messages after what Alan Shearer said about Newcastle win
Micah Richards teased Alan Shearer over his reaction as Newcastle staged a comeback from 3-1 down to beat West Ham 4-3 at St James’ Park on 30 March.
West Ham had a strong lead heading into the closing minutes of the game, but three goals in 13 minutes including a 90th-minute winner from Harvey Barnes saw Shearer’s former team turn it around.
Shearer took to X following Newcastle’s fourth goal as he simply shared: “Wow” with a laughing emoji before Richards teased: “Not what you said in the group chat.”
Given Shearer’s usual reactions to Newcastle results, you can expect his true reaction to have been more outspoken, and likely more explicit, away from the public eye.
Alan Shearer reacts as Newcastle beat West Ham 4-3
Shearer will likely be buzzing with the comeback from his team, particularly after the introduction of Harvey Barnes, but West Ham have to look at themselves and why they allowed complacency to steal an important three points from them.
The way the Hammers threw away their lead will be a huge concern for Moyes and his position as manager, with the pressure surely set to ramp up again. Three goals conceded in 13 minutes is simply unacceptable for any team.
The shocking display late in the game will likely see concerns increase once again over Moyes, with pressure lingering over whether he will remain at the London Stadium beyond this season.
Moyes’ situation at the London Stadium has been a hot topic of discussion since the 6-0 defeat to Arsenal and the news that the board had delayed contract talks, and this result will do his position no favours with the supporters.
In other West Ham news, Richard Keys has shared what left Moyes “furious”.
