West Ham United make contact with Borussia Mönchengladbach attacker Alassane Plea
West Ham United have made contact with Borussia Mönchengladbach attacker Alassane Plea, according to Foot Mercato journalist, Santi Aouna.
The 30-year-old Frenchman is contracted to the Bundesliga side until 2025, and it’s believed the forward is eager to return to France (Foot Mercato, 30 May).
It’s understood that Marseille are pushing hard for Plea and that Monchengladbach would accept a bid of around £9million.
West Ham, Crystal Palace and Fulham have all made contact with the player’s entourage.
Getting on
Plea is certainly entering the latter stages of his career. Therefore, this is a move which would be unwise from David Moyes. Furthermore, the Frenchman has only hit the back of the net twice during the 2022/23 season. Hardly prolific.

If he did move to the Premier League he would likely be after some fairly substantial wages, which could jeopardise Moyes’ transfer budget. West Ham can be a lot more astute.
Last summer we saw the Hammers dish out some fairly substantial transfer fees. For the most part, their big-mone additions have failed to make a significant impact. Gianluca Scamacca has been a disappointing addition, and, if we are being brutally honest, Lucas Paqueta has only turned up during the latter part of the campaign.
Potentially looking towards the Championship could be a smart idea for Moyes. He’s had plenty of success in the past when shopping in the second tier.
