West Ham make £33m offer for French defender, player wants PL football – Sky Sports
West Ham United have made an offer of £33million for Saint Etienne defender Wesley Fofana, according to Sky Sports.
Reporting on their live transfer blog (23/09, 16:39 pm), the initial offer made by the Irons amounts up to £22.9million.
It is claimed that West Ham have included add-ons that are over £10.1million, with Leicester also interested in the 19-year-old.
Sky Sports have suggested that Fofana is eager to play in the Premier League, and he has informed Claude Puel of his needs.
David Moyes has made it no secret that he wants defensive reinforcements, although this deal would clean up the entire budget.
West Ham fans were not happy with the sale of Grady Diangana recently, but that is the only way they could boost their budget.
David Sullivan spoke out on Wednesday about his transfer plans and admitted that he could go through the transfer window with no new players arriving.
The Hammers co-owner did admit that he had placed three offers for a trio of players from European leagues, with Premier League clubs proving difficult.
Fofana has started three games this season, including the 2-0 victory against Marseille last week – where he made over five interceptions and won six defensive duels [WyScout].
The 19-year-old is classed as one of the brightest talents in European football, and it would be a real coup for the Irons to secure his services in the next two weeks.
