West Ham United key source shares admission on Sheikh Jassim takeover

A “key source at West Ham has broken the lid over Sheikh Jassim’s investing and taking over a certain stake in the club.

Speaking to Claret and Hugh [2 November], they’ve revealed that the feeling is Jassim will not be interested in taking over 10 per cent.

Thus, as things stand, no takeover from the Qatari state is on the cards at the Hammers.

“No, not at this time and I don’t think he would be interested in 10 per cent,” the source told Claret and Hugh.

Seems unlikely

Jassim does not appear to be okay with being the second or third fiddle at a club if he takes over, he wants complete autonomy.

This is why he did not even go ahead with the takeover of Manchester United as the Glazers family did not want to sell their entire stake.

Given their global appeal, in comparison to West Ham’s, the difference is night and day and it seemed unlikely right from the start.

However, it’s important that the structure changes behind the scenes and if that means sharing more stake in the club, then so be it.

What’s happening with Daniel Kretinsky is also anyone’s guess as he’s extremely hands off and things do not appear to be changing because of him.

The club needs an ambitious owner as the potential is there to take the Hammers to the next level.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are now frustrated with a £10m player as a behind-the-scenes revelation has emerged from the London Stadium.
