West Ham United: Jarrod Bowen stunned by what Sky Sports journalist told him

West Ham star Jarrod Bowen was stunned by the fact it’s been 10 years since he made his professional debut for Hereford.

After being told about that stat in an interview with Sky Sports on Sunday (17 March), the England international said “wow” as he didn’t realise it had been a decade since he made his first appearance for the now National League North club.

The interviewer claimed it had been an “incredible journey” for Bowen, with the 27-year-old winger admitting that if you had told him a decade ago that he’d now be talking about a Premier League game, then he would’ve said he was a “million miles away from it”.

“This month makes 10 years since you made your debut for Hereford, it’s been an incredible journey since then,” said the Sky Sports journalist.

“Yeah, wow, I didn’t know it was 10 years,” replied Bowen. “But yeah, like you said, it’s been one hell of a journey and, if you said 10 years ago we’d be sat down talking about a Premier League game, I would’ve probably said you’re a million miles away from it.

“I think when you’re playing, it’s hard to look back on your journey sometimes because you’re just so focused on what games next or what you can do next. It’s a bit of a mental one 10 years.”

Jarrod Bowen has been unbelievable for West Ham

It has certainly been an incredible journey for Bowen after starting out with Hereford and making his way up to the Premier League.

He has established himself as one of the best wingers in the top flight over the past few years and backed that up with his excellent performances this season.

His 18 goals and seven assists in this campaign have ensured he’s once again been called up to the England squad for the upcoming international fixtures.

That is something he could only have dreamt of a decade ago, but after scoring the winning goal for us in the Europa Conference League final last year, he’s made so many memories with the Hammers.

After signing a new long-term deal just a few months ago, he’ll be looking to continue putting in stunning displays and scoring the goals to help us continue pushing forward at the London Stadium.
