West Ham United: Jamie O’Hara demands on-air David Moyes apology in late-night talkSPORT rant

Jamie O’Hara demanded an apology from West Ham fans who called for David Moyes to leave in a late-night rant on talkSPORT [15 March].

The Irons thrashed Freiburg 5-0 at London Stadium on Thursday (14 March) to set up a Europa League quarter-final with Bayer Leverkusen.

A number of West Ham supporters want to see the back of Moyes, but progression in Europe devalues their argument substantially.

Speaking on The Sports Bar, former Tottenham midfielder O’Hara said: “He comes in for a lot of stick from West Ham fans.

“I tell you what, they need to apologise to this man. It was a big, big result for them.

“They’re flying in the Premier League, probably as high as West Ham can get to, and they’re now into the quarter-finals [in Europe].”

David Moyes contract remains unsigned at London Stadium

If Moyes has any sense, he will now sign the new contract he has been awarded on the back of the win over Freiburg.

It was a record European victory for the Irons as they reached the last eight of a European competition for the third year running.

After a terrible start to 2024, the feel-good factor has returned to London Stadium thanks to this victory.

In fact, more than the victory itself, it was the manner of the performance as United showed real attacking intent.

It could be argued that those who want Moyes out will now use this performance as ammunition the next time West Ham lose.

The style of play is the biggest talking point with regards to Moyes, but if he can get the side playing like this and winning, nobody can complain.

While those who want Moyes gone may have gone quiet on the back of this victory, defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend and the noise will return.

In other West Ham news, Ally McCoist broke away from commentating on Rangers v Benfica to praise an Irons player.
