West Ham United investor Daniel Kretinsky finally appears at club meeting

Daniel Kretinsky has shown his face at a West Ham United board meeting for the very first time, according to Claret and Hugh.

The Czech Republic businessman has been an investor in the football club since 10 November 2021 but until recently had not met in person with fellow majority shareholders David Gold or David Sullivan.

That has now changed however as Claret and Hugh report that Kretinsky made a fine impression on the rest of the board upon his first meeting with them.

He could now be prepared to offer a more significant financial investment to West Ham that could see the club benefit from cheaper loans than they otherwise would be able to negotiate without the Czech.

Player wages and transfer dealings were a big topic of the meeting although the list of targets David Moyes has compiled is, understandably, being kept secret.

About time

It should not have taken all this time for Kretinsky to meet with the club’s board members but at least it has now finally happened.

There’s an argument to say that he should not have been allowed to gain such a large stake in the Irons without meeting everyone of significance at the club but that’s in the past now.

Our next steps are to look to the future and with Kretinsky ready to invest big, we have to make sure we are focussing his cash on the right areas at the right time.

It will be music to Moyes’ ears after the club failed to make any signings in January which rather stunted our chase of a top-four finish in the Premier League and maybe even prevented any chance of us winning the Europa League too.

We can’t afford to miss out on these chances which may not come about again for a while.
