West Ham United injury update emerges on James Ward-Prowse

West Ham midfielder James Ward-Prowse is facing an injury scare after his good start to life at the club since joining from Southampton, according to Sean Whetstone.

The editor of the reliable Hammers news outlet Six Foot Two reported on Tuesday (5 September) that it is not believed to be anything serious.

However, he will undergo scans on Wednesday to see the severity of the injury.

Via Twitter, Whetstone wrote, “James Ward Prowse is reported to have suffered a knock in training today, I am told he will have a scan tomorrow but it is not thought to be serious.”

Good news

Ward-Prowse has already become one of the Hammers’ most useful players and he’s proving to be an asset for David Moyes’ side.

The West Ham boss puts a lot of emphasis on set pieces and scoring from dead-ball situations and in the English midfielder, he’s got the ideal player for that role.

A number of the Irons players are very good in the air and it’s no surprise that Ward-Prowse’s assist numbers already make for good reading.

There’s also good news the injury is not too serious and there’s no domestic football this weekend so the 28-year-old can have a few more days off and recuperate.

Losing Declan Rice was a huge blow but by signing Edson Alvarez and Ward-Prowse the Hammers appear to be dealing well with his absence.

Lucas Paqueta too, does not seem like someone disgruntled over his failed summer move to Manchester City and the midfield now looks stronger than ever.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open to leaving his side this summer.
