West Ham United injury update after Emerson scan results emerges

West Ham United are “hopeful” that Emerson has avoided serious injury after his blow in the 1-1 draw against Fulham, according to Jack Rosser.

The Sun journalist reported via X on 16 September that although the Italian has a thigh problem, scans produced nothing too concerning.

With Chelsea up next in the Premier League at the London Stadium on Saturday 21 September, it is unknown if Emerson will be available.

Emerson injury news emerges at West Ham

Since arriving from Chelsea, the Italian has become a mainstay at the London Stadium.

While it was clear during his time with the Blues that there was talent within the 30-year-old, it was unclear how important he’d become at West Ham.

The defender has played in all four of the Hammers’ Premier League games and has been helping hold down the left-hand side of the defence alongside new arrival Max Kilman.

Aaron Cresswell is Julen Lopetegui’s other option at left-back and has slowly become a bit-part player as he comes towards the end of his career.

To make matters worse, Lopetegui’s men haven’t gotten off to the best of starts in the top flight thanks to some poor games from players such as Konstantinos Mavropanos and will be looking to show that they can still challenge for European places.

Although he might not get as much praise for the work he does on the pitch as some of his teammates do, it’s a guarantee that West Ham would rather have the 30-year-old starting rather than sidelined.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers could make a move for a new striker in January.
