West Ham United in transfer talks over Barcelona star Memphis Depay
West Ham United are in talks to sign Barcelona star Memphis Depay despite the forward being at a more advanced stage with Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma, according to 90min.
Depay is one of world football’s top talents and it’s surprising to see the Hammers being linked with a move for the Dutch World Cup star.
Nevertheless, journalist Graham Bailey confessed that West Ham United are being “kept abreast of the situation” and have spoken to the player’s representatives.
“90min understands that Roma are not the only club keen on Depay, but their interest is the most advanced at this stage,” said Bailey as quoted by 90min.
“Sources have confirmed to 90min that Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal, Newcastle and West Ham are all being kept abreast of the situation and have spoken to the player’s representatives.”
Long shot.

A move for Depay seems like a long shot for West Ham United but stranger things have happened in the transfer market.
Why wouldn’t he make a move to the London Stadium? Stars like Lucas Paqueta and Gianluca Scamacca have shown the transfer nouse West Ham now possesses.
Obviously, a relegation battle wouldn’t be the most enticing of offers to lure Depay from the glitz and glamour of Barcelona but this is something the Hammers can work on until the January window arrives.
Securing his signature would be another massive statement of intent for West Ham and he’s the type of player to change the fortunes of the team at the minute.
Bailey’s transfer gossip is usually spot on, so there will definitely be fuel to the fire of West Ham’s interest in the forward.
Ultimately, if there is anything to take from this transfer speculation, it’s that it’s nice to see the Irons being linked with some of the football’s best players.
Long may the Premier League pulling power continue.
