West Ham in talks to terminate contract of £100k-a-week player – report
West Ham United are in talks to terminate the contract of Jack Wilshere, according to talkSPORT.
The 28-year-old has one year remaining on his current deal at the London Stadium but looks set for an early exit from east London.
David Moyes’ patience seems to have run with Wilshere, as his side prepares for their Premier League opener with Newcastle on Saturday evening.
TalkSPORT have reported that West Ham are wanting to cut ties with Wilshere, who is currently on £100,000-a-week [Spotrac].
Wilshere first joined the Irons back in 2018 on a free transfer after leaving Arsenal after years of injury troubles in North London.
The 28-year-old has only featured 18 times for the Irons during his two years at the club, scoring once and only adding one assist in those games.
The midfielder managed to feature more during his loan spell at Bournemouth the year before his move to West Ham, with injuries still a massive hindrance in his career.
Moyes clearly believes he has enough options in midfield to get through this season without any additions and letting Wilshere leave.
The addition of Tomas Soucek means that the Irons have rotation options with Mark Noble and Declan Rice, with the attacking midfield being stacked with the likes of Manuel Lanzini and Pablo Fornals.
Wilshere wasn’t able to force his way in when fit for the majority of last season, and this is the latest hint that his Irons career will come to an abrupt end sooner rather than later.
