West Ham United in talks over £22m Alex Scott transfer at London Stadium

West Ham are discussing a potential deal for Bristol City star Alex Scott, in a move that could cost £22million, according to the Daily Mail.

The report states that West Ham are already in discussions with Bristol City for Scott, who has been linked to both Liverpool and Everton recently.

It goes on to mention West Ham have made approaches for Denis Zakaria of Juventus, Tyler Adams of Leeds United, Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and Leicester winger Harvey Barnes – although the level of those approaches is not discussed.

Another option listed by the Daily Mail is Ajax’s Mexican international midfielder Edson Alvarez, following Fabrizio Romano’s report that Borussia Dortmund have pulled out of a deal to sign him this summer.

Scott would be brilliant for West Ham

The Robins’ midfielder is the type of player that makes fans want to watch their team just to see him. His silky control and ability to beat a man would balance nicely with the physicality the East London club possess in midfield, and at just 19 years old he has plenty of room to grow.

The £22m price tag is one that may concern the board, with any deal upwards of £20m for a player from the Championship always a slight concern, but Scott is an exceptional talent who Bristol City will not want to lose cheaply.

Of the other names mentioned, Alvarez seems the ideal replacement for Declan Rice at the base of the Hammers’ midfield, with his combative nature and relentless style earning him the nickname El Machin (The Machine).

West Ham are being proactive in the transfer window and in their aim to replace Declan Rice, which is something fans will certainly be grateful for.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are set to be rivalled in their bid for a 13-goal winger.
