West Ham United in ‘mega-money’ talks with Allianz as £20m+ news emerges
Allianz is in talks with the owners of West Ham United’s stadium over a “mega-money” naming rights deal, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported on page 77 of its print edition on Friday (17 November) that the German financial giant has a “serious interest” in securing a sponsorship deal for the London Stadium as initial talks are understood to be underway.
It said Vodafone previously shelved plans to buy the stadium’s naming rights in 2017 in a deal worth up to £20million over six years, with owners E20 Stadium LLP believed to be hoping that any future sponsorship agreement can at least match that figure.

Interesting
This is a very interesting development on West Ham’s stadium and it could prove to be financially beneficial for the club moving forward.
The Hammers currently have a deal in place that sees them pay the London Stadium owners £2.5million a year in rent.
But the Daily Mail reported that the owners will receive £4million of any naming rights package, while anything above that figure will be split equally with the Irons.

There is no doubt that Allianz is a strong brand for West Ham to be involved with as the company has links to European giants Bayern Munich and Juventus.
There also shouldn’t be too many issues about a potential name change as the London Stadium doesn’t really carry any meaning with the club’s fans.
In other West Ham news, a journalist has detailed how one Hammers forward has had a “significant” turnaround.
