West Ham United in hot pursuit of FC Metz right-back Koffi Kouao
West Ham United are eyeing a move for Metz right back Koffi Kouao with David Moyes looking to strengthen his full-back options, according to Footmercato.
The Daily Mail (29 December, page 69 report that Newcastle are still in hot pursuit of Harrison Ashby which could leave the Hammers slightly short when it comes to the right-back area.
It’s since been suggested (Footmercato, 3 January) that West Ham have “spotted” 24-year-old Kouao, with the Ivorian international on the club’s shortlist.

Interesting
It remains to be seen just how busy the club plan to be in the January window, with exits probably needed before the Hammers consider adding anyone else to their ranks. Ashby looks destined to depart and with Vladimir Coufal struggling for form so far in the 2022/23 season, another right-back could well be an area Moyes looks at.
Furthermore, it’s unclear whether the board will look to back the Scot considering his job is currently hanging by a thread. The next three matches against Leeds, Everton and Wolves will be absolutely vital for Moyes. The board will be expecting a minimum of six points for the pressure to be somewhat relieved on the Scot’s shoulders.

Considering the amount of money which was spent in the summer, there could well be a reluctance from the board to offer Moyes any more backing when it comes to transfers.
The West Ham boss will now be hoping for his summer signings such as Gianluca Scamacca, Nayef Aguerd and Lucas Paqueta to stay fit and really find their feet in a Claret and Blue shirt.
