West Ham United in direct contact with Mavropanos, transfer decision just days away
West Ham have been in direct contact with VfB Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos over a potential move, according to BILD.
The German newspaper reported on page 12 of its print edition on 17 August that the Hammers have “made representations” in Stuttgart as well as contacted the Greek international about a potential switch to the Premier League.
It said the 25-year-old has a release clause worth £21.4million and that a decision will be made over his future in the next few days.

Promising
This is a promising development in West Ham’s bid to try and persuade Mavropanos to make the move from the Bundesliga side to the London Stadium.
The Irons have switched their attention to the centre-back after a move for England international Harry Maguire fell through with Manchester United deciding to keep hold of him.
Hammers insider ExWHUemployee reported on his Patreon on 15 August that David Moyes has been blown away by Tim Steidten’s recommendation to sign the defender.

He said the Scot has been impressed by the Greek’s physical attributes, pace and ability on the ball, which are key attributes he is looking to add to his defensive options this summer.
After joining from Arsenal last summer, he made 34 appearances for the German club last season, where he scored three goals and laid on one assist to help keep them in the top flight.
