West Ham United hit with illness bug just hours before Manchester City clash
The West Ham United team have a bug going around the camp with late checks taking place before their clash against Manchester City on Sunday (19 May), according to team news insider Sam C.
The Hammers may be without some key players due to illness for their trip to the Etihad Stadium knowing a win would stop City from winning the Premier League.
The United Stand affiliate has a proven track record for leaking team news before games and his report (19 May) would point to an easier afternoon for Pep Guardiola’s side.
It is safe to say, if true, this is far from an ideal start to the day of David Moyes’ last game as West Ham manager.
How could West Ham be affected by illness v Man City
The Hammers were already set to be up against the wall playing against a Man City side at home who will be desperate for a win.
Should they secure three points they will win the Premier League title regardless of the Arsenal result against Everton.
The Gunners are two points behind the Citizens and are hoping that West Ham can do them a favour and help them win the league.
There is no update as to which players will be missing for the Irons but with Kalvin Phillips ineligible, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Neyef Aguerd potentially both injured, any defensive absentees could be detrimental.
Obviously, if Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta or Mohammed Kudus are missing the Hammers are going to struggle going forward.
This is an issue that Moyes wouldn’t have wanted to deal with on his final day with the club but it appears he has a big problem on his hands.
It may prove to be an easy day for Man City to get their hands on yet another Premier League title.
