West Ham United have nine days left to sign Alphonse Areola

West Ham need to sign Alphonse Areola in the next nine days, that is before the end of June, or their transfer plans could be in trouble, according to Claret and Hugh.

The reliable Hammers insider wrote on their website on 21 June that the player “remains in negotiations” with the Hammers who are looking to sign him on a five-year deal.

His loan spell with the Hammers officially ends after just nine days, and with that, the London club’s option to sign him permanently will expire.

West Ham have agreed to sign him permanently for a fee of £11 million but the Hammers are struggling to agree personal terms with the player.

Get it done

The Hammers have done the difficult part in agreeing terms with PSG, and all they need now is to reach an agreement with the player.

Areola impressed last season on loan, where he mainly played in the cup games.

However, if he joins this summer, he will aim for the number one spot and will fight with Lukasz Fabianski for that role.

The worst possible scenario is that PSG could reject offers from the Hammers after the end of this month.

If that happens, the Hammers could be in deep trouble, as other targets could be heading elsewhere. For instance, Sam Johnstone has joined Crystal Palace, whereas Nick Pope is being targeted by Newcastle United [The Daily Mail].

So, the next nine days are absolutely vital for the Hammers if they are serious about landing the goalkeeper.

The Hammers have already signed Nayef Aguerd, and there could be more additions before the end of the window.
