West Ham United have held talks with Mick Doherty but deal not agreed yet

West Ham have held talks with former Celtic scout Mick Doherty but no deal has been agreed upon yet, according to ExWHUemployee.

Writing on his Patreon (8 November), the reliable Hammers source has suggested that a move could happen in the future, but as of now, he hasn’t joined the club.

Alan Nixon has reported (06 November) that the Irons had appointed Doherty and he will join David Moyes to find rising and emerging talents at the club.

Would be a smart appointment

Doherty would be a brilliant addition to the backroom stuff.

Moyes is under a lot of pressure at the moment following a series of poor results, but he has the backing of the owners.

The Hammers’ boss is the main pulling factor here. Doherty has previously worked with Moyes at Everton and Sunderland, and the pair share a strong working relationship.

Doherty has the reputation of being a top scout and his experience would be invaluable, as West Ham are looking to develop something special under Moyes.

West Ham

West Ham have a world-class academy system, and Doherty will have every tool he needs to bring the right talents to the club.

The Irons have progressed immensely under Moyes. The expectations at the club have grown high, and anything less than a top-seven finish will be considered a disappointment.

To be fair, given the squad the Hammers have, they should be challenging for the top six again this season, but it will require a strong effort from the team after the World Cup.
