West Ham United have bid for Sassuolo striker Giacomo Raspadori rejected

West Ham United have already had a bid for Sassuolo striker Giacomo Raspadori rejected this summer, according to Calcio Mercato.

The 22-year-old scored 10 times in Serie A during the 2021-22 season as The Neroverdi finished 11th out of 20 teams with much of that being down to the goals of Raspadori and Gianluca Scamacca, who the Irons are also monitoring this summer [The Athletic].

David Moyes won’t have a free run at signing the Italian international though with Juventus keeping a close eye on his situation as they may look to him to replace Alvaro Morata if he leaves for a return to Atletico Madrid.

AC Milan are also in the hunt to keep him on Italian shores and have even been offered the chance to sign him which isn’t a luxury that West Ham have been offered.

Sassuolo are expected to ask for £25milion to allow Raspadori to leave the club but could accept less if a player is also offered to them in exchange, regardless of position with Juventus potentially offering defender Matteo Gabbia to get a deal agreed.

West Ham must have offered less than the required price to be rejected “immediately” by the mid-table Serie A side but there is plenty of time to get a deal sorted this transfer window.

Italian saga

This only ever seems to be the case in Italy but once a player moves to the Serie A, they very rarely seem to leave again unless no one wants him.

There is a lot of movement between the clubs within Italy’s top tier but they don’t often sell to clubs outside of their league structure unless the specific player demands it.

West Ham

We did manage to buck the trend back in 2015 when we signed Angelo Ogbonna from Juventus but that was when they really didn’t need him with Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci a solid pairing in front of Gianluigi Buffon.

Hopefully, we can do so again with either Scamacca or Raspadori because both have the capabilities and age on their side to come to the Premier League and make an impact.

The £25million asking price is not all that unreasonable either and should be well within our budget with enough room to make the key improvements elsewhere as well so this seems like a no-brainer even if we’ve been rejected once already.

In other West Ham news, we could take huge advantage of a £200million fire sale at one of Europe’s biggest clubs to sign two players who would drastically improve our squad.
