West Ham United friendly against EFL club cancelled – report
West Ham United are playing their third friendly against Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
The Irons have already played both Ipswich Town and Wycombe Wanderers, cruising to easy victories against both the EFL clubs.
David Moyes’ men scored nine goals in those two games but will face a much tougher test against Brentford.
West Ham had also arranged a friendly against another Championship side, this time Reading on Tuesday evening.
That game will not be taking place now.
Claret and Hugh have reported that the Royals have pulled the plug and cancelled that clash, with the Championship having too busy of a schedule.
In the report, it is detailed that they are uncertain whether or not another friendly will be arranged to take that spot.
Reading have played games against the likes of Spurs already and were swept aside easily 4-1 in that one, so maybe West Ham need better competition.
With Saturday’s clash with Brentford and a clash with Bournemouth the following week, the Irons will be tested before the opener against Newcastle.
Moyes is using these games for fitness, but he is taking them very seriously, utilising his full-strength side in each outing.
Declan Rice was missing from the Brentford clash with an ankle problem, so a game on Tuesday could have helped his return, something that won’t happen now.
