West Ham United forward Jarrod Bowen not in England matchday squad v Germany
West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen has not been picked for England’s UEFA Nation League clash against Germany, as reported by Ian Abrahams.
The popular journalist and commentator shared the information on Twitter (26 September) ahead of tonight’s game.
The Three Lions are going through a bad patch at the moment, having gone five games without a victory for the first time since 2014.
Abrahams wrote on Twitter: “West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen is not in the matchday squad for England tonight v Germany.”
Big call
Gareth Southgate is under pressure for the first time. The England boss knows that the results at this year’s World Cup will determine his future.
England did well in the previous major tournaments but they have been very poor recently. They were relegated to the Nations League’s second tier following a 1-0 defeat against Italy in Milan on Friday.
Southgate has made a bold call here. He has left Bowen from the matchday squad, which gives an indication that the Hammers winger will have to work extremely hard to get his back into the side.

To be honest, Bowen hasn’t been in the best of form this season. He looked rusty in the opening few games and missed some golden opportunities to score, which we normally don’t find from him.
His poor form has coincided with West Ham’s poor start to the season as well. The Hammers find themselves 18th in the league table, and the results must improve.
Bowen is not out of the England picture though, but definitely, it’s a warning sign.
