West Ham United finalising personal terms before finalising Alphonse Areola transfer

West Ham United are finalising personal terms before confirming the signing of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist has reported that the Irons will trigger their £11million permanent option for the Frenchman after his loan spell last season.

Once personal terms are done, Areola is set to follow yet another imminent new signing Nayef Aguerd through the doors at the London Stadium.

Speaking to GIVE ME SPORT on Thursday evening [16 June], Sheth shared the latest on the Frenchman and his proposed stay in London.

“A player that they had at the club last season; he was effectively their cup goalkeeper Alphonse Areola,” he said.

“The deal that they did with Paris Saint-Germain last summer was for a loan with an option to buy, and West Ham want to trigger that option. It’s around £11 million.

“I think they are finalising personal terms with Areola before triggering that option.”

Amazing.

This is more like it.

After what appeared to be a slow start in this summer window, West Ham are set to come to life with two brand new permanent signings for their squad.

David Moyes will be chuffed with talks now coming to an end for these two, and eyes can then be moved into other key areas of the squad such as midfield and in the final third.

The Irons will be hoping for some momentum once these are announced, and Rob Newman can get straight back into the negotiating for some more transfers.

Areola was reliable as ever last season and will be pushing more for that number one shirt off Lukasz Fabianski, not just in domestic cups, but in the Premier League too.

That competition can only be good for the squad and it is clear that the two senior stoppers had a good relationship as the season continued.

All eyes now waiting on this one alongside Aguerd.

In other West Ham United news, the Irons have been offered the chance to sign this £12.8million goal machine after his club was relegated.
