West Ham United fans sing for Divin Mubama as David Moyes decision delayed v Burnley

West Ham fans began singing Divin Mubama’s name during the first half as Danny Ings managed just six touches, according to The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas.

It is reported that Mubama’s wage demands and amount of expected game time at senior level are not being met, which is why the 19-year-old turned down a new contract with the Hammers [SixFootTwo].

With the teenager placed on the bench by David Moyes once again, Thomas revealed via Twitter on Saturday (25 November) that West Ham fans were singing the youngster’s name while facing Burnley.

With Mubama once again missing out on a spot in the starting XI, Ings was deployed by Moyes in the striker position, and as expected, played a passenger role until being substituted for the academy graduate just after the hour-mark.

And as if written in a script, the young striker played a key role in West Ham’s equaliser against Burnley with just five minutes left to play, before Tomas Soucek scored the winner to complete the comeback.

A future superstar

It is clear that the youngster is unhappy with his current situation at West Ham. But the Hammers should instead be doing everything to keep Mubama at the club, especially given Ings’ poor form, Michail Antonio’s recent injury news, and West Ham’s horrific history of signing awful strikers.

What more does the player need to do to be given a chance under Moyes? How else can he prove his abilities and deserving of a starting spot?

From scoring 40 goals in 57 appearances at U18 level to netting 15 goals in 30 appearances for West Ham’s U23s, many believe that Mubama’s excitement, energy and clinical finishing in front of goal is exactly what the club need to take the current squad to the next level.

Now, with his second goal for the senior team, he has done everything in his power to make Moyes believe that he deserves more minutes for the first team.

In other West Ham news, a Moyes favourite must now accept his time at London Stadium is probably up following a development on Friday (24 November).
