West Ham United ‘expected’ to up bid for Southampton ace James Ward-Prowse – Sky Sports
West Ham are “expected” to improve their offer for Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse, according to Sky Sports.
The publication reported on its website on Monday (31 July) that the Hammers will up their £20million bid, which was rejected earlier this month.
Sky Sports added that the East London club are “encouraged” by the midfielder being open to the move this summer.

“West Ham United are expected to go back in with an improved offer for Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse,” according to Sky Sports.
“They had a bid worth £20m rejected earlier this month. West Ham are encouraged by the player being open to the move, but still work to be done if they are to meet Southampton’s valuation.”

Improved offer needed
It seems that Southampton are keen to keep hold of their star midfielder and captain fantastic Ward-Prowse, which is, of course, very understandable.
But if he is set to leave, the Saints still hold all the cards and can definitely hold out on the Hammers for as long as possible.
The newly-relegated club can afford to up the price of their star man, with the Saints fully in the knowledge that West Ham can afford to up their £20million bid given how they have just sold Declan Rice for £105million.
David Moyes’s men are running out of time this summer as the new season rapidly approaches, with a new midfielder definitely the priority after Rice left for Arsenal.
Ward-Prowse is definitely too good to be playing in the Championship next season, and West Ham could absolutely lose out on his signature if they do not increase their offer soon, with plenty of other top clubs potentially interested in acquiring his services this summer.
In other West Ham news, a pundit has questioned the club’s move for one Premier League player as a Moyes sack verdict is shared.
