West Ham United exit for Harrison Ashby opens door for Aaron Wan-Bissaka arrival

West Ham United youngster Harrison Ashby has been linked with a move away from the London Stadium – and that could open the door for Aaron Wan-Bissaka to make a January move to the club.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon reported on 4 September (via his Patreon) that the club face a battle to keep Ashby with Newcastle and Leeds both chasing the 20-year-old right back.

It has also been suggested by reliable West Ham source Claret and Hugh (5 September) that the highly rated full-back could turn down a new deal at the London Stadium.

In light of the speculation surrounding Ashby’s future, the Irons have been linked with a move for 24-year-old right-back Wan-Bissaka, according to The Athletic (14 September).

David Moyes lining up a move for the Manchester United man does make a lot of sense considering the uncertainty surrounding Ashby at the moment. Moyes will surely be keen to keep the highly thought youngster at the club, but ultimately if contract negotiations aren’t going anywhere then he may as well look elsewhere.

If he does leave in January, then the West Ham boss could accelerate his move for Wan-Bissaka after seeing a late summer move rebuffed by Manchester United.

The former Crystal Palace man would be an excellent addition at the London Stadium and would provide stern competition for Vladimir Coufal’s right-back berth.

Furthermore, the 24-year-old could be keen to kickstart his career after seeing his development severely stunted during his time at Old Trafford.

Ashby’s departure and Wan-Bissaka’s arrival is certainly one for West Ham fans to keep an eye on.
